Weekly Update #2
August 21, 2011
Hi La Cumbre Comminity,
Yes, we're ready!! We've worked hard all summer to prepare for another exciting year at La Cumbre. We are fully staffed, and our teachers have been getting their rooms ready for your students!
Monday, August 22 is Registration Day. There will be 2 lines (A - L and M - Z) at the double doors to enter the Quad. Please enter the building through the main entrance off of the parking lot. You will be given a sticker to indicate where you go next. If you have already verified your address and Tdap, you will go directly to the snack shack windows to turn in the remaining papers and get your student's schedule. Easy!! Otherwise, you will be directed to other lines to verify address or Tdap. You don't need to come in person (the student can come) as long as all of the required documents are in order and signed by you. Please visit our website at http://www.sbceo.org/~lacumbre. Teachers will be in a meeting all morning, but they will be in their classrooms in the afternoon to meet and greet 7th grade students and teachers. PE uniforms and yearbooks will be available at registration. Students will not dress for the first few days, but the PE uniform is required daily when students do dress. Sal Williams, ASES after school coordinator will also be available during registration to accept applications for the amazing free after school program, which runs every day of the school year.
The COW (Clinic on Wheels) will be in the La Cumbre parking lot on Monday morning from 9 - 11 a.m. to provide free Tdap vaccinations. A parent must accompany the student. Please take advantage of this last opportunity for free Tdap vaccinations, as students cannot receive schedules unless proof of vaccination or waiver is submitted by order of the SB Unified School District.
Students need to come prepared with a backpack and supplies on the first day of school. Agendas (daily planners) will be provided on the first day to all students with backpacks. This is an important part of organizational skills needed for success in junior high.
During the first days of school, students will receive information about school rules, expectations, and skills for success. They will also receive their "home textbooks". These are the textbooks that students will keep at home to complete homework, so they do not need to carry textbooks to and from school. Please remember to keep them in a secure place at home.
